Kindergarten

We have a co-educational kindy

We believe that young children learn best through play and we facilitate this through open ended periods of time where the children are able to engage in a variety of different activities. These activities are based on observations of what the children are interested in and what skills they need to further develop.

The St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School co-educational Kindergarten program is based on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines which ensures that we are constantly meeting the children’s developmental and learning needs. Children engage in a range of early literacy and numeracy activities

through intentional teaching opportunities, hands-on experience and play. Educators plan and identify opportunities to challenge, support and extend students in both small and large groups as well as individually.

An important focus of our Kindergarten program is developing social and independence skills, and learning to operate as part of a group. These are all important skills that help the students as they move onto a more formal schooling experience.

Our Kindergarten program evolves during the week, based on interests of the children, and can be viewed on our noticebo

ard retrospectively. This will illustrate what we have been learning at Kindy and the different activities we have been enjoying that arise from the children’s interest.

At St Aidan’s, we embed specialist lessons in Languages, Music, Library and Physical Education into our daily program. Students are taught by qualified language, music, library and P.E. teachers,  who also teach these subjects in the Junior and Senior School.

Our Mission

St Aidan's Kindergarten acknowledges that parents are a child's first and most important teacher and that collaborative relationships between educators and families are essential. We support learning through play and conversation. We also acknowledge that each young child develops at a different rate and with a different set of dispositions. As such, young children should have a learning environment that is responsive to their individual needs.

Educators in our Kindergarten believe learning is a lifelong journey and that early childhood is the foundation on which this exciting and important quest begins. Central to our high quality educational program is creating a nurturing, engaging, supportive and inclusive environment.
